 Intended Solution:
Make the second Lemming an athlete.
When the first lemming gets to the water near the left-most Crystal build, the builder should finish just in time.
After the Athlete turns left at the one-way wall, build over the gap to connect with the crystal under the steel.
When he turns back, and turns again at the one-way wall, have him build from the end of the net to the dangling crosses.
As soon as you give the command to build, set the release rate to 99 and recruit two climbers in quick succession from the trap door. They should end up very close to the athlete when he turns back.
If they are close enough, one should die in the trap (sorry it's hidden, but it wouldn't work if it was any higher!) and the other two should pass. Make the lead lemming of the remaining two mine through the crystal over the exit, and the other will turn back.
Make him mine just before he steps up to the block with the trap, creating a route out from the net. (He will have to die in the water.) Finally mine to release the crowd.
